Banff Systems Summit Event

"Together We Shift, Together We Thrive," speaks to the collective journey toward a more regenerative, resilient tomorrow.

The Banff Systems Summit welcomes post-secondary students from across Canada, practitioner-changemakers from multiple sectors, and a select number of international participants. Over the course of four immersive days, participants will experience keynotes, plenaries, panel discussions, skills-focused workshops, walkabouts, and networking activities, all designed to foster meaningful connections and inspire innovative thinking.

This Summit creates a unique space where students, educators, practitioners, and the curious can share and learn about tools and work contributing to positive systems change. We celebrate and learn from the perspectives of students, including those participating in Map the System Canada, and offer a platform to explore real-world applications of systems thinking in addressing the complex challenges we face today—such as housing crises, political polarization, and global conflicts.

At its core, the Banff Systems Summit is about building a thriving community where individuals and resources come together not just during the event but long after. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in deep, rich, generative conversations that lead to new insights, better questions, and purposeful pathways for leadership and action.

The Banff Systems Summit welcomes post-secondary students across Canada, practitioner-changemakers from multiple sectors, as well as a select number of international participants. These three days will create an immersive, engaging experience, combining keynotes and plenaries, panel discussions, skills-focused workshops, walkabouts, and networking activities. Together, the Banff Systems Summit will create the space for new connections to be formed, and for new insights and ideas to germinate toward building a more regenerative, resilient tomorrow for Canada.

The Banff Systems Summit is proud to host the 2025 Map the System Canada Final, where top teams from across Canada will showcase their exceptional work. These presentations demonstrate the power of systems thinking in driving meaningful change and inspiring conversations among summit attendees about actionable solutions.

The Map the System (MTS) Canada is a national initiative that challenges post-secondary students and community innovators to deeply explore complex social and environmental issues using systems thinking. Participants conduct thorough research to uncover root causes, stakeholder perspectives, and systemic relationships, presenting their findings through visual maps and storytelling.

Join us in one of the most breathtaking places in the world, for the 2025 Banff Systems Summit. The natural beauty of Banff's surrounding lakes and mountains made it Canada's first National Park and the world's third national park refuge. More than 4 million people from around the world now visit Banff National Park every year. Rocky Mountain peaks, glacial lakes, and adventure come together in Banff National Park.

Over the following three days, participants will engage in a dynamic mix of keynotes, panel discussions, and workshops. These sessions will delve into thought-provoking topics—such as the role of systems thinking in healthcare innovation, reconciliation, and addressing boundary-pushing questions. Interactive workshops will focus on equipping attendees with essential skills for today’s systems leaders while looking ahead to the challenges of tomorrow.

Additionally, we’ll have multiple opportunities to immerse ourselves in Banff’s unique natural and human systems, learning from the environment and one another to enrich our collective experience.
