Tori is Anishinaabe and a member of Berens River First Nation, located in Treaty 5 territory. For the past 25 years, he has served as an educator within the Treaty 7 communities of Siksika and Tsuut'ina First Nations, Currently, he is the Director for the Iniskim Centre at Mount Royal University. He supports a centre offering academic, personal, and cultural advising for Indigenous students at MRU.
Tori holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary (2000), a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from Royal Roads University (2021) , and he is currently taking the Doctor of Social Sciences at Royal Roads University where he is studying the intersections of decolonization, Indigenization, and reconciliation within the postsecondary context. His research seeks to facilitate cross-cultural interactions within ethical spaces to address Call to Action 57, which calls for professional development and training for public servants.
Tori lives in Calgary with his wife Linda. Together, they have seven children and recently welcomed their first granddaughter!
