Carolyn Dahl Rees was most recently appointed to the Alberta Utilities Commission on March 25, 2020 and became chair on June 24, 2020. Ms. Dahl Rees had been a Commission member, an acting chair, and later vice-chair, between 2007 and 2012. Along with her substantial regulatory history at the AUC and other tribunals, Ms. Dahl Rees, a lawyer, worked recently in multiple senior legal roles for TransAlta Corporation. She also has experience drafting legislation and regulations and played a role in the development of the regulatory framework and foundational legislation to restructure Alberta’s electricity system in the 1990s. She has completed degrees in law, English and medieval studies.
