Dr. Priya Bala-Miller is currently Managing Director at the Nature Investment Hub, with a mandate to achieve a five-fold increase in capital allocation for nature to $20billion before 2030. She is an experienced sustainability leader, with over 25 years of experience in Canada, Europe and Asia. Her technical expertise intersects natural resource governance and sustainable finance. Through previous roles, she championed increased corporate
accountability for environmental stewardship through policy reform, shareholder engagement, standardization, certification and disclosure regimes. In her academic work, Dr. Bala-Miller engaged with field-building research efforts such as the Responsible Investing Initiative at Carleton University. She also held the Fink Fellowship at the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the UN-Principles for Responsible Investment-OIKOS Finance Academy Scholars Program. More recently, Dr. Bala-Miller has been recognized as an award-winning
public servant. She spent a year at Environment and Climate Change Canada helping
lay the groundwork for the Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) model in the
NorthWest Territories (NWT), overseeing research on biocultural indicators and
serving as senior advisor for the Conservation Finance Exchange. Following this, and
prior to joining the Hub, she led on sustainable finance at Natural Resources Canada,
working to advance the federal Green Bond program and Canada’s Sustainable
Investment Taxonomy. She is passionate about people and spaces that elevate equity and inclusion.
