Oscillatory neural circuits seem to play an important role in communication across brain regions. My colleagues and I have developed methods to assess phase coupling of multiple oscillating time series using exponential families on the multivariate torus, which we call torus graphs. Amplitudes of oscillations also co-vary across brain regions. This led us to investigate properties of the multivariate complex normal distribution, which I will briefly summarize.
