Plenary: Knowledge, land and data: Indigenous perspectives on conservation

Indigenous Peoples have cared for these lands and waters for generations, and their knowledge continues to shape how we understand and protect the natural world. This plenary session brings together voices working at the intersection of conservation, community and knowledge. Speakers will explore how organizations can build meaningful relationships with First Nations communities, the role of traditional ecological knowledge in stewardship, and emerging questions around data sovereignty, including how new technologies such as AI affect the ways Indigenous data is collected, shared and protected.
