Opening keynote: the ecological buffalo

Numbering in the millions, bison played a significant role in the diverse ecosystems they once inhabited. With the arrival of Europeans, bison were all but exterminated, along with their ancient food webs and interspecies relationships. Despite this brush with extinction, they survived. As they recover, they are re-establishing the relationships they once shared with thousands of other species in a remarkable process of ecological and cultural healing.
