Artist as Changemaker Alumni
Stephanie Banszky is an artist, facilitator, community activator, and social change maker living and working in Calgary (Moh’kinstsis), Canada. Stephanie’s personal art practice is inspired by her love of celebration, baking, nature, florals and the Canadian landscape. Her community arts practice is built around placemaking and activism and she is devoted to making social change by fostering community engagement, and advocacy in marginalized populations.

She has spent the last 17 years of her career specifically in the nonprofit world, engaging women, youth and marginalized populations to be advocates for change. She has worked extensively with youth, inspiring them to make social change and share their voices through art and creative interventions. Her recent projects include”Village Square- Hello Mural,” “Springboard ContainR- 2SLGBTQIA Youth Mural Series,” “Village Square- Tree of Life and Community,” “Soft Voices” and “Calgary Youth Sketchbook Collection.” She recently completed a 2-year Artist as Changemaker residency with Trico
Changemakers and Calgary Arts Development where she was engaging community members in the NE around ideas of “Connection and Disconnection.” During her “day job,” she works as a creative changemaker, working with community leaders across Alberta and Canada to collaborate on high level systems change projects to support older adults.
