Nishan Chelvachandran

Nishan Chelvachandran is the Managing Director of The GeShiDo (Get S#!t Done) Foundation, a radical adaptive venture philanthropist fund and social innovation ecosystem change-engine, that leverages world changing expertise and experience from across time and space; mobilising our bold donors from across Canada alongside industry experts to make big bets on complex issues; to move 1 million at-risk people out of crisis. GeShiDo is focusing on three critical areas:
Affordable Housing for the Working Poor and New Canadians.
Mental Health and Addiction related to the Fentanyl crisis.
Food Security, the cost of last mile accessibility.
He is the Founder of Iron Lakes, a cyber impact consultancy in Finland, specialising in providing expertise from the conflux of technology and humanity; that has consulted on a broad spectrum of technological intersectional systems, ranging from Cybersecurity for Community Foundations in Canada; designing health data interoperability platforms in Spain, co-designing public service deployment, innovation and resilience strategies with municipalities across Finland to align with the UN SDGs; collaborating with the Vatican on frameworks for Ethical AI and AI for Peace. He leverages experience from a previous life in the military and as a Police Officer in the UK. He is a published author and researcher; with his co-authored work, in conjunction with the Tallin Manual, influencing cyber resilience frameworks in NATO. He has previously held roles as a Professor of Practice at Universities in Finland.
He is a co-lead for the Our Future Life Initiative, a global future-positive movement to create a better world in which all humanity can thrive. Our Future Life is currently partnering with the UN in a competition to develop AI Futures, showcased at this year’s UN’s AI for Good Summit in Geneva, and the General Assembly in New York. Nishan should be delivering a workshop and speaking at the UN in Geneva in May but opted instead to participate in the Banff Systems Summit.
He is a fellow of the RSA, a 270-year-old UK based society for social enlightenment, co-founded by Benjamin Franklin; and is their Ambassador for Canada. He is conspiring with change-agents across rural Canada to cultivate emerging work in Rural Futures, creating holistic innovation ecosystems that address bespoke challenges faced by rural and isolated communities.
He is also on IEEE’s Global Expert Advisory Panel. He a special adviser to the British and Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland, and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Nishan defines himself as an Optimistic Nihilist. He is a competition Olympic-Trap Clay-Pigeon Shotgun shooter, motorcycle scrambler, sustenance hunter, and an Agri-futurist.
