Brenda Kenny, PhD, FCAE, ICD.D
Brenda Kenny has extensive experience in energy and environment innovation, policy, and sustainability. She has held a variety of executive roles in both government and industry and has served on federal and provincial Ministerial Expert Panels addressing major challenges in regulation, indigenous rights and energy.
Brenda serves as Vice Chair, Alberta on the board of the Canada West Foundation and board member Sustainable Development Technology Canada. She recently concluded six years as Chair of Alberta Innovates and has served as Vice Chair of Emissions Reduction Alberta, and on the board of the University of Calgary.
Brenda is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineers, and an Institute for Corporate Directors designate. She holds a Bachelor’s in Applied Science (Metallurgy) from Queens University, a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and a PhD in Resources and the Environment from the University of Calgary.
She is active in community leadership through various organizations, notably International Women's Forum and Calgary on Purpose. Her interests include community engagement, art, writing, adventure travel and time in nature. She resides in Calgary with her husband and has three grown sons whose families also live in Calgary.
