Chris Shaw
Fellow
Catamount Fellowship
As a Molecular Biology major with a minor in Philosophy (and an unofficial one in chemistry), Chris’s interests fall mainly in the realms of genetics, queer and disability studies and entomology. They are excited to have been chosen as part of 2023/2024 Catamount Fellowship at MRU, where they began a journey delving into systemic issues pertaining to climate change and applied eco-action. Chris was also a recipient of a SoTL grant for a group philosophy research project titled “Disability, SoTL & the Collaborative Dynamics of Universal Design”. Their part of this project focused on the interpretation and use of physical space. They were invited to present this work at a philosophy-based conference in 2019. Other awards they have been presented include Student’s Association of MRU Citizenship Award in 2017 and a Philosophy Award from the philosophy department at MRU for outstanding achievements and contributions to philosophy at MRU. In their spare time, Chris takes care of a multitude of tarantulas and writes poetry, some of which has been published.
